The timing of this interview was perfect. A few days later, I was given a book of Japanese stitch patterns. Even though someone looking at this piece wouldn’t know that the lavender border uses a Japanese design, it felt like a great way to bring this participant’s connection to Japan into the knitting pattern in a more subtle way.
